If you met James Law at SXSWi then you probably heard him wax lyrical about BuildorPro - in fact you probably had trouble getting him to stop speaking about it, so apologies for that...
A bit of background
As our executive summary states:
Buildor’s mission is to facilitate the manipulation of HTML through the browser, bringing full design and editing control of the web to the cloud
and you can treat Buildor itself as the core engine that allows us to do that.
From this we currently have two products:
1)
http://buildorlite.com - a tool aimed squarely at SMEs that have sites built for them without a content management system. BuildorLite allows users to edit any HTML page in seconds with no setup, downloads or installs. Give it a go with this url (a great real world example of the kind of site we target) http://www.leachpottery.com - just paste it where you see the red arrow
here.
2) BuildorPro however, offers designers and developers a new set of tools for building web content through the browser.
Unlike http://Weebly.com and http://Squarespace.com etc we are not a template driven/hosted 'instant site' service. Instead, we are creating a new method for pro web designers and developers to design, code and collaborate in the cloud.
Using BuildorPro you can build layouts, debug HTML/CSS and hand code through a built in text editor. Unlike Dreamweaver the code we create is the same as you would create by hand, yet our tools make laying out and building new HTML/CSS markup incredibly fast. Plus given that its all through the browser, the natural home for web content, makes for a much slicker work flow.
There's a video showing a page being built here:
http://vimeo.com/9852176 (5:29 - no sound and featuring a development interface).
We take a photoshop design with it's individual parts and build the page from scratch. The video features a development interface but you can see a preview of the live version at the beginning.
If you got to see a demo we hope you liked it. If this has whetted your appetite and you'd like to see more please do contact James (
